What Is Happening

ILLCOS runs regular information (info) sessions throughout the year. Info session topics include:

• Introduction to visuals
• Introduction to using ipads and ipods for communication
• Supporting behaviour through communication
• Intro to Key Word Signing (formerly Makaton)
• Certification in Key Word Signing
• Using AAC with specific age groups – preschool, school age, adults
• Other topics according to interest – e.g. Using AAC to assist with toilet training

Info sessions are run in conjunction with supporting services including Aging, Disability & Home Care (ADHC), Interchange Illawarra, Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect), and Illawarra Children’s Services (ICS).

Info sessions are usually free of cost, and run for 1-2 hours. To attend, you will need to sign up as an ILLCOS member. Membership is free for families, support workers and community members. Organisations and professionals (such as private Speech Pathologists) pay a small annual fee.

Please contact us if you would like further information, to RSVP to an info session, or to request an info session on a topic of interest.
